What will you be doing?

• Octopus Energy Engineering is responsible for the sites, services, and tariffs used by millions of Octopus Energy customers worldwide. This includes building innovative time-of-use tariffs and enhancing customer interactions, such as providing meter readings through engaging interfaces.
• You’ll encounter a variety of challenges as we advance the energy revolution. Our multidisciplinary teams collaborate across countries, enabling you to bring together the right people to create impactful solutions.
• We are expanding rapidly, and the Octopus Energy Engineering team is at the forefront. We seek a Backend Developer to work closely with Octopus Energy France and other teams, focusing on developing and integrating new features for our website and mobile app.
• The role involves working on modules such as the private area, bill management, session saving, customer onboarding, and marketing dashboards.
• The team is driven by a mission to create a direct impact on customers. Priorities may shift, but the fast-paced feedback cycle remains consistent.

What you'll need

• An interest in technology and problem-solving, with diligence and thoughtfulness.
• Experience or expertise in:
• Python
• Django (or equivalent web framework)
• GraphQL and REST APIs
• Writing robust and fault-tolerant software
• Celery and asynchronous processing

Fluency in French and English is required to collaborate effectively across teams. Additional experience in:

• Terraform, Packer, Consul
• React
