Qualifications

• Senior-level experience in back-end engineering within production-critical environments.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, security/compliance, or healthcare data standards (FHIR) is a plus.
• Write clean, maintainable code and uphold high software quality standards.

Your Team

Product development is led jointly by Engineering and Product, organized into cross‑functional squads focused on specific product areas. Squads bring together product managers, designers, engineers of various profiles, and domain experts, operating with high ownership.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Back‑End Engineer, you will play a critical role in scaling Nabla’s AI‑driven healthcare platform. You will take ownership of key components of our back‑end systems, collaborate closely with product and machine learning teams, and help shape the technical direction of our infrastructure.

• Design, build, and evolve our server‑side applications and APIs
• Lead complex integrations with external partners, especially Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
• Continuously improve and optimize our back‑end architecture and developer experience
• Guide architectural discussions and influence long‑term technical decisions
• Collaborate closely with Machine Learning, Product, and Front‑End teams to deliver impactful end‑to‑end features
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to scaling the engineering culture

Impact

• Nabla processes 10 billion tokens/month with LLMs
• Every week, hundreds of thousands of clinical notes are automatically generated and synced with EHRs, saving thousands of hours for clinicians
• Our APIs serve real‑time workloads in high‑stakes clinical environments

Your DNA

• Strong foundations in computer science or a related discipline
• Senior‑level experience in back‑end engineering within fast‑paced, production‑critical environments
• Proficiency in one or more widely used back‑end languages (Java, Kotlin, C++, Python, etc.)
• Deep experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable APIs and distributed systems (GraphQL and OpenAPI experience is a plus)
• Comfort driving architectural decisions and technical strategy
• Write clean, maintainable code and uphold high standards for software quality
• Clear communication in English
• Bonus: experience with cloud infrastructure, security/compliance, or healthcare data standards (FHIR)
