Compass Lexecon, a leading economic consulting firm, is seeking an experienced power market modeller/consultant to join its Europe energy practice. You will work on quantitative modelling and regulatory issues across Europe, with offices in Paris and other European cities.

Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of German or French is a plus. A Master’s degree in a quantitative field is required, and you will engage in data analysis, modelling using Plexos and Python, and client-facing

Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in energy consulting, with regulatory authorities or in energy utilities
  • Experience in power market modelling (long-term capacity expansion, short-term dispatch), power prices projection, supply and demand dynamics, wholesale market analysis, ancillary services market analysis, power plants valuation
  • Experience in power market simulation software (e.g. Plexos, BID 3, PyPSA, Antares)
  • Experience in data manipulation (time series analysis, data collection and cleaning). Working knowledge of statistical packages or programming languages (Python, R, etc.)
  • Master’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Finance or Statistics from a leading university
  • Fluency (both spoken and written) in English is mandatory; Fluency in German or French is a plus
  • Other European languages are desirable
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills
  • Commitment to high-quality and accurate work
  • Strong solution orientation and analytical skills
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment

Due to expansion of our Energy practice in Europe, we are currently looking for an experienced power market modeller/consultant with several years of professional experience in consulting, regulatory authorities or with energy utilities.

You will work on both quantitative modelling and regulatory issues across Europe. You can be located in any of our European offices (i.e. Berlin, Düsseldorf, Paris, Brussels, London and Helsinki) and will continuously work with colleagues in other offices.
