Sigma Earth is seeking a Consultant in Paris to support the delivery of decarbonisation roadmaps, energy infrastructure planning, and market analysis for corporate clients and investors.

You will develop financial and economic models, evaluate energy policies, and help clients implement transition strategies at corporate, site, and project levels.

Qualifications

  • Degree in energy engineering, business, economics, or similar.
  • Master’s degree or PhD would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with energy policy, regulation and commercial models.
  • Prior experience in a commercial, industrial or consulting role welcomed.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills required.

Responsabilités

  • Support delivery of decarbonisation roadmaps and energy infrastructure planning.
  • Conduct techno-economic analyses and build project finance models.
  • Analyse energy regulations, market developments, and regulatory impacts for clients.
  • Provide strategic advisory on energy transition pathways and go-to-market strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-office ERM teams to support energy projects.

Overall Position Purpose

Due to strong business growth in low-carbon energy services, we are looking for an enthusiastic Consultant to join our Low-Carbon Solutions team in Paris. In this role, you will support the delivery of decarbonisation roadmaps, energy infrastructure planning, energy market analysis, and strategic advisory projects for corporate clients and investors.

The work is varied and includes developing financial and economic models, advising on the future role of low-carbon energy, supporting energy policy development, analysing project economics and funding options, and helping clients implement energy transition strategies at corporate, site, and project levels.

As a Consultant, you will provide strategic advice to clients on energy markets and technologies. This may include:

  • Assessing carbon reduction options.
  • Conducting techno-economic analysis of different energy solutions.
  • Analysing the impact of new energy regulations and policies.
  • Evaluating emerging and established low-carbon technologies.
  • Building project finance models.
  • Collaborating with ERM teams across different offices, including climate change and energy specialists, to assess and support energy projects.

In all assignments, the consultant’s role is to help clients understand the business risks and opportunities linked to the transition toward low-carbon energy.

Requirements
  • Degree in energy engineering, business, economics, or another relevant discipline.
  • A Master’s degree or PhD would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with energy sector policy, regulation, commercial models, and the broader industry landscape.
  • Prior experience in a commercial, industry, or consulting role would be highly valued.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills are essential.
Sought-After Skills

Low-carbon sector knowledge:
Strong understanding of low-carbon energy areas such as hydrogen, CCUS, industrial decarbonisation, low-carbon transport, and energy networks. Ability to connect these areas into practical and coherent transition pathways.

Strategic insight:
Ability to translate technology and market trends into clear strategic insights, recommendations, and roadmaps for clients.

Energy market analysis:
Understanding of energy market fundamentals, the current status and future development of low-carbon technologies, and the influence of regulation and policy on energy markets.

Techno-economic and scenario modelling:
Experience in techno-economic modelling, including business cases, sensitivities, and scenarios. Strong quantitative skills, with the ability to support assumptions using evidence and logic. Ability to model key energy metrics such as levelised cost of energy and total cost of ownership.

Demand and infrastructure forecasting:
Ability to develop energy demand or load forecasts and connect them to future infrastructure requirements and strategic planning.

Policy, regulation, and market design:
Ability to analyse policy and regulatory developments and advise clients on their implications for corporate strategy and investment decisions.

Tooling and analytics:
Strong Excel modelling skills, along with Python or equivalent tools for analytics, automation, and scenario calculations. Ability to create transparent, auditable models and present clear outputs.

Corporate strategy:
Understanding of corporate strategy fundamentals and key analytical frameworks. Experience in business model assessment, market entry strategies, and go-to-market planning would be valuable.

Energy modelling and valuation:
Understanding of energy modelling and techno-economic analysis, ideally including bottom-up cost estimates, asset valuation using IRR and NPV, LCOE or LCOH pricing models, and sensitivity analysis.

Interest in energy transition:
Strong interest in energy transition trends, technologies, and market drivers, along with the ability to learn quickly and apply transferable skills effectively.
