Job summary

Lucentive is seeking a Senior AI Systems Engineer to own and evolve the shared AI operating layer that orchestrates tools, memory, and retrieval into a runtime. You will define provider abstractions and the evaluation framework that scales across products, ensuring coherence as adoption grows beyond a single engagement.

Qualifications

• Senior experience building agentic systems in production.
• Hands-on model orchestration across more than one model provider.
• Built or owned an eval suite that caught a regression before it shipped.
• Owns infrastructure that multiple products or teams depend on.
• Typed, production-grade engineering discipline (a stack like Next.js and Convex, or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Own the orchestration layer.
• Design and own the agent orchestration layer: how tools, memory, retrieval, and multi-step reasoning compose into a runtime other products build on.
• Build the provider abstraction.
• Build the model-provider abstraction used across Lucentive's products, so a provider swap or a mixed-model strategy does not force a rewrite at the call site.
• Own the eval suite.
• Own the eval suite used across products: truth sets, regression coverage, and drift detection that catches a build before it ships, not after.
• Set the pattern that other engineers implement per engagement, and judge when a client-specific pipeline should graduate into a shared one.
• Keep architecture coherent and maintain production observability for agent runs across products.
• Turn validator specs into contracts
• Partner with the Context Architect to turn a validator spec into the orchestration layer's contract.
