We are a growing team looking for a Senior Accountant in the Finance department to help us on our journey to revolutionize road freight logistics. The role is located in our Antwerp, Berlin, or Amsterdam office.

About the role:

The Senior Accountant position is integral to providing precise, timely, and actionable financial insights to our stakeholders. This role involves supporting financial reporting activities, conducting in-depth financial analyses, and contributing significantly to the creation of monthly financial statements.

Additionally, the Senior Accountant will oversee general ledger accounts while taking responsibility for designated departmental initiatives and projects. Success in this role requires exceptional communication abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive solution-focused mindset to overcome challenges and drive operational excellence aligned with industry best practices. In this role you will:

  • Understand and apply accounting principles and policies and stay up to date with changes.
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations in the month-end closing process.
  • Prepare complex journal entries for the monthly financial statement close.
  • Analyze revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis and report on variances.
  • Proactively seek additional responsibilities as existing workload is optimized and automated.
  • Support, document, monitor, and execute internal control.
  • Assist with external audit requests.
  • Coordinate accounting matters with other departments.
  • Prepare reports such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents that project the organization's financial position.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules according to the monthly financial statement close schedule.
  • Analyze accounting procedures, processes, and tasks, recommending and executing improvements to reduce redundancy, build efficiency, and increase productivity while ensuring compliance with company financial policies.
  • Assist with the completion of quarterly and annual regulatory filings.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned according to the team and/or country-specific requirements.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs, MS Access, SQL, Oracle Financials Cloud, and other cloud-based Oracle solutions.
  • Site Specific: Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Experience with business process optimization in an accounting environment.
  • CPA, CMA, or relevant professional certification (active or inactive from any jurisdiction).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to act and operate independently to accomplish objectives while taking accountability for work product.
  • Ability to work within a team and liaise well across departments and functions.
