Introduction

INTERPOL is the world's largest international police organization with 196 member states. Created in 1923, it facilitates cross-border police cooperation and supports authorities combating international crime. We are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Senior Coordinator Africa within the Executive Director of Police Services, part of Counter-Terrorism.

Responsibilities

• Implement and operationalize the INTERPOL Counter-Terrorism Strategy through regional and thematic activities.
• Serve as the central liaison in the police thematic area/region, providing advice on capacity building, training, and operational support.
• Prepare operational plans, assessments, reports, and deliver presentations related to police thematic areas/regions.

Primary Duties

• Coordinate daily tasks and projects within the Unit/Team to support member countries and develop the Sub-Directorate.
• Lead and manage staff, ensuring policy compliance and effective implementation of priorities.
• Provide strategic and operational guidance to stakeholders on counterterrorism efforts.
• Act as INTERPOL's point of contact in the thematic area/region, advising senior management and preparing relevant documentation.
• Develop and maintain relationships with national, regional, and international agencies.
• Explore collaboration opportunities with partners to advance organizational strategies.
• Assist the Assistant Director in daily operations and represent the organization at meetings.

Requirements

Education and Qualifications

• At least five years of higher education at a university or equivalent.

Experience and Skills

• Experienced police officer or law enforcement official.
• Minimum of eight years in counterterrorism.
• Investigative skills and knowledge in counterterrorism investigations.
• Staff management and supervision experience.
• Project management experience is highly desirable.
• Experience working in international environments is advantageous.

Languages

• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Knowledge of French, Spanish, or Arabic is an asset.

Abilities

• Strong communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills in English.
• Proficiency in Office software, internet, and computer skills.
• Strategic and operational thinking ability.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
