Seasonal Landscaping and Maintenance Assistant
Job Summary:
Frontier Nursing University is looking for motivated high school students to join our Facilities Department for the summer season. This is a great opportunity to earn money, gain work experience, and spend time outdoors helping maintain our beautiful 217-acre campus. No prior landscaping or maintenance experience is necessary—just a willingness to work hard and learn new skills.
Supervisor Responsibility:
No supervisor responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Help with landscaping tasks like pulling weeds, spreading mulch, and watering plants
Pick up trash and recyclables around the campus grounds
Use hand tools like rakes, shovels, and brooms (training provided)
Assist with planting flowers and basic garden maintenance
Wash equipment and campus vehicles
Support the Facilities team with special projects and outdoor clean-up
Maintain cleanliness of sidewalks, patios, and outdoor furniture
Support maintenance with preventive maintenance (PM) activities
Follow safety guidelines and instructions from supervisors
Other duties as assigned.

Position ends August 13, 2025 (Co-op opportunity may be available in the Fall when school starts)

Prohibited Equipment for Minors
Under Kentucky law (KRS 339.230) and regulation 803 KAR 1:100, minors under the of 18 are prohibited from engaging in occupations deemed hazardous. This includes operating or assisting in the operation of certain power-driven equipment commonly used in landscaping and maintenance work. Specifically, minors are not permitted to operate:
Chainsaws
Tractors
Wood chippers
Power-driven mowers (both riding and walk-behind)
Hedge trimmers
Power-driven hoisting apparatus
Excavating equipment
Logging or sawmill machinery
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Requires frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
Flexible hours to fit around summer activities
Reporting Relationship:
Reports directly to the Facilities Manager.
Work Location:
Versailles, KY
Shift
7:30 am - 4:00 pm weekdays
Hours of work will vary depending on situational and weather-related factors
