Risk Officer

The Risk Officer will report to the Head of Risk and will support them by assisting in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks, ensuring compliance, and contributing to the overall risk management framework.

The Risk Officer will be directly accountable for managing Operational / Third Party Management / BCM / ICT risk of the Bank. They will also support the Head of Risk in various other aspects of the Risk function.

The role offers the opportunity to directly collaborate with all the stakeholders of the Bank, and to be engaged in most of the risk aspects of the Bank.

The candidate should be a solution-oriented person, curious, capable to work in an international environment and with various stakeholders.

Who We Are

Europe Arab Bank SA (EAB SA) is a banking institution established in France in 2020 and regulated by the ACPR. EAB SA develops two main businesses, a Private Banking business (PB) for non-resident clients and a business of Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) mainly focused on export financing to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region as well as project financing in that region.

Principal Accountabilities

Maintenance, review and revision of the Operational Risk Management Framework in the Bank.

• Coordinate the production and maintenance of the Risk Control Self-Assessment process to ensure that all key risks are identified, and appropriate controls in place to mitigate risks.
• Manage and follow up of all Operational Risk events, monitor remediation plan status.
• Design, monitor and report Operational risk indicators.
• Produce and deliver Operational Risk & Fraud awareness training to staff members and new joiners.

Third Party Management

Maintain the Third-Party Management framework aligned with best practices and EBA guidelines.

• Support the Business in the onboarding of new vendors and collaborate with the various stakeholders to perform due diligences and risk assessments.
• Maintain an up to date register of our vendors / critical vendors.
• Support the collection of KPIs and produce reports for the various committees.

Business Continuity Management

Supporting EAB SA’s ability to anticipate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruptive events. This role requires close collaboration with our teams in London.

• Maintain a register of critical functions and systems used in the Bank.
• Ensure that contingency plans are maintained, regularly tested, and updated based on evolving risks and business needs.
• Coordinate resilience testing and call tree.

Supporting the Bank in improving its ICT Risk Framework aligned with DORA. This role requires close collaboration with our teams in London.

• Maintain a register of ICT incident and ensure proper escalation.
• Produce reports for the various committees.
• Maintain a register of our ICT vendors.

Ensuring alignment of the risk exposure of the Bank with appetite limits established by the Board.

• Monitor all the risk indicators of the Bank, escalate any excess.
• Produce the Credit risk reports.
• Provide support to the Business to keep liquidity ratios (LCR, LTD) within the appetite limits.

Governance

• Support the Head of Risk in the production of the Risk reports for the Risk Committee, ALCO and ExCo.
• Attend Committees and present the risk topics in your direct coverage.
• Draft minutes of the Risk Committee.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Min 5 years’ experience as an operational risk manager or in a similar role
• Solid knowledge of risk management principles and French and EU regulatory requirements applying to the Banking sector, such as: Art 3 Nov 2014, EBA guidelines on Third Management, DORA
• Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, business administration or a similar discipline
