HOUSE OF ABY in Paris is seeking an experienced Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Engineer to lead RBI studies and define inspection strategies for major Oil & Gas projects. You will assess equipment integrity and support asset reliability in line with API 580/581 and industry best practices, ensuring traceable documentation and high-quality reporting.

You will collaborate with Process, HSE, Operations and Maintenance teams, maintain RBI databases using Meridium, and deliver robust RBI work products.

Qualifications

• MSc or engineering degree in process, materials, metallurgy or corrosion engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of RBI experience in Oil & Gas.
• Strong knowledge of API 580/581 standards.
• Experience with RBI documentation and P&IDs, MDS, line lists.
• Proficient in English.

Responsabilités

• Perform RBI studies per API 580/581 methodologies.
• Develop and maintain corrosion loop reports.
• Gather and analyze project data from equipment lists, P&IDs, MDS, line lists.
• Identify damage mechanisms, corrosion loops and potential degradation risks.
• Define inspection strategies, inspection plans and mitigation actions.
• Prepare RBI databases and upload files to RBI software (Meridium).
• Interface with Process, HSE, Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure accurate risk assessments.
• Deliver high-quality technical documentation and engineering reports.
• Ensure assumptions, calculations and recommendations are fully documented and traceable.
• Report progress and study results to the RBI Lead.

Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Engineer – Oil & Gas

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Risk Based Inspection (RBI) Engineer to join major Oil & Gas engineering projects. You will play a key role in defining inspection strategies, assessing equipment integrity, and supporting asset reliability through RBI studies in accordance with industry best practices and standards. Based on the requirements described in Specification_ Risk Based Inspection Engineer_5 Years Exp Min 2026.doc.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform Risk Based Inspection (RBI) studies in accordance with API 580 and API 581 methodologies.
• Develop and maintain Corrosion Loop Reports.
• Gather and analyze project data from Equipment Lists, Mechanical Data Sheets, P&IDs, Line Lists and piping documents.
• Identify damage mechanisms, corrosion loops and potential degradation risks.
• Define inspection strategies, inspection plans and associated mitigation actions.
• Prepare RBI databases and upload files for RBI software platforms such as Meridium.
• Interface with Process, HSE, Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure accurate risk assessments.
• Deliver high-quality technical documentation and engineering reports.
• Ensure assumptions, calculations and recommendations are fully documented and traceable.
• Report progress and study results to the RBI Lead on a regular basis.

Profile

• MSc or Engineering Degree in Process Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy or Corrosion Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Risk Based Inspection methodologies within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of API 580 / API 581 standards.
• Good understanding of static equipment, piping systems, corrosion mechanisms and inspection practices.
• Experience working on EPC project documentation including P&IDs, MDS, GADs, Line Lists and Isometrics.
• Familiarity with material selection activities and preparation of MSD/MSR documentation.
• Experience with RBI software such as Meridium is highly desirable.
• Professional proficiency in English.
• Strong analytical skills, teamwork mindset and ability to work within multidisciplinary project environments.

The salary for this position ranges from € 45000 to € 60000 gross per year, depending on your experience and qualifications.
