Description du poste

ES RECRUT is a recruitment consultancy based in the Pau metropolitan area (Southwest France). We specialize in direct, respectful, and efficient hiring methods that ensure long-term success for both employers and candidates. For us, proximity is the foundation of a successful recruitment process — and of your future well-being within the company.

Our client is a growing player in the renewable energy sector, currently scaling up its operations across France.

To support the execution of complex geothermal drilling campaigns, we are looking to recruit a Rig Manager (M / F) for a permanent position based in Pau (64), France.

Your Role

As Rig Manager, you will oversee the entire drilling campaign — from site mobilization through to the completion of production tests. You will coordinate all subcontractors and on-site stakeholders, while ensuring compliance with HSE standards, technical quality, and project targets.

You will act as the technical lead on site and serve as the central point of communication with engineering, project, QHSE and operations teams.

Your responsibilities
  • Preparing the drilling site and coordinating all on-site personnel (subcontractors, experts, geologists, geophysicists, etc.)
  • Supervising drilling operations, casing, cementing, heavy handling, and testing
  • Implementing and enforcing HSE standards and regulatory requirements (ATEX, safety plans, ICPE, zero-discharge policies)
  • Maintaining daily communication with engineering teams, project management, and regulatory authorities (e.g. DREAL, prefecture, inspections)
  • Producing daily drilling reports and technical logs, documenting incidents, non-conformities and lessons learned
  • Managing site logistics, consumables, equipment readiness, and the intervention planning
Your Profile
  • You are a graduate from an engineering school (e.g., Mines Paris, ENSG Nancy) and have at least 8 years of experience in drilling operations (oil, gas, or geothermal). You have already held positions such as Rig Manager or Drilling Superintendent, and are fully autonomous when it comes to supervising complex field operations.
  • You are fluent in HSE and ICPE-related regulatory frameworks, with a solid understanding of the interactions with public authorities. You are recognized for your leadership in the field, your ability to keep operations under control, and your communication with multidisciplinary teams.
  • You are methodical, hands-on, proactive, and capable of anticipating and managing unexpected situations. You know how to maintain operational continuity in challenging environments.
  • While French language skills are a strong plus, they are not mandatory.
  • You are eager to join a flexible, fast-moving organization, where execution and strategy go hand-in-hand, and where entrepreneurial spirit is valued. You know how to represent the company’s interests clearly and constructively with clients, authorities, and partners.
