Description du poste

MaiaSpace is a European space tech company, designing, manufacturing and operating competitive and sustainable solutions for space mobility. We are driven by the belief that access to space is a major enabler for a better and more sustainable life on Earth, addressing the challenges faced by humanity: climate, resources, connectivity, and data. Our aim is to successfully design and test a cost-effective and reusable mini-launch vehicle by 2026.

Raceway Lead Engineer

We are looking for a Raceway Lead Engineer to join one of our agile multi-disciplinary teams in charge of the development of the Maia Upper Stage cryogenic stage. You will be in charge of the raceway design and its mechanical and electrical interfaces, which is an important part of the Upper Stage in terms of integration lead time and cost.

Your tasks will be the following:

At Upper Stage level:

  • Oversee raceway mechanical activities from the preliminary design phase to production, testing, and flight.
  • Write product technical specifications and define the product development worklogics to meet performance targets (incl. mass) under planning, budget, and time constraints.
  • Coordinate CAD Designers (supervise and coordinate the work of one or more CAD Designers, ensure designs comply with technical specifications and company standards, review and validate their design & drawings).
  • Liaise with suppliers (maintain regular communication with manufacturers to ensure designs are feasible On Time, On Cost, and On Quality, participate in design and manufacturing review meetings, manage manufacturing anomalies).
  • Improve the Design (use a "Test and Learn" approach to continuously improve the design of the raceway, incorporate feedback and test results to optimize performance and reliability).
  • Manage activities associated with the delivery of the product engineering bill of material of your product(s) and manage the evolutions of the definition during the development.
  • Provide support (ie identify limitation of use, write user manuals, treat anomalies) to:

  • Test teams during test and launch campaigns.
  • Contribute to the management of Mass, Centre of gravity, and Inertia of the launcher.

At Launcher Level:

  • Coordinate with the Lower Stage team to maintain consistency in raceway design, interfaces, integration logic, and manufacturing.
  • Take into account Avionics & Harness inputs in order to design the best raceway in terms of cost and aerodynamic and layout constraints.
  • Write necessary definition documentation and perform and/or synthesis necessary justifications to support production, architecture consistency, and flight worthiness.
  • Provide support (ie identify limitation of use, write user manuals, treat anomalies) to:

  • Contribute to the management of Mass, Centre of gravity, and Inertia of the launcher.

Technical Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of complex integration processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of cryogenic environments.
  • Proficiency in CAD & PDM software (SolidWorks).
  • Experience in project management and coordination of multidisciplinary teams.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage supplier relationships.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take initiative.
  • Team spirit and ability to collaborate effectively with different Agile Teams.

Qualification:

  • Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in aerospace engineering or a related field.
  • Engineering degree in aerospace, mechanical, or a related field.
  • English level sufficient to read and write technical documentation, to perform oral technical presentations, and to interact on technical topics.
  • Specialization in cryogenics and/or in materials would be an asset.

Working at MaiaSpace

You will be joining a friendly multi-disciplinary team, comprised of multi-skilled people, following Agile and Scrum methodologies. This means that your role and responsibility may evolve over time with varied assignments and challenges depending on priorities and competences. Your work will be hands-on and in close contact with the final product. We are open-minded, transparent, pragmatic, result-oriented, and people-centric. Teamwork is at the heart of how we work together and our co-workers share the same fundamental values: respect, humility, reactivity, and autonomy with a passion for technical excellence.
