Service Bid and Proposal Manager

Within Hitachi Energy, the High Voltage (HV) Products and Services unit plays a crucial role. This unit offers a comprehensive range of high-voltage products, including gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), air-insulated switchgear (AIS), hybrid switchgear, generator circuit breakers, capacitor banks, instrument transformers, and surge arresters. These products are essential for the safe, reliable, and efficient transmission of electrical power. Job Description

For our Business Unit High Voltage Service based in Beynost, France (Lyon area), we are looking for a Bid and Proposal Manager. The selected candidate will work closely with the Service Sales Manager and Project Managers and will be responsible for administrating, consulting, and negotiating service contracts with customers.

He/she will develop pre-sales contract strategies closely with the Service Sales Manager, build proposals/contracts/bids by consulting and preparing technical and commercial offers, negotiate contracts, engage in contract amendments to accommodate scope changes, and ensure fulfilment of contractual obligations from contracting parties.

Your responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the entire bidding phase, from request for quotation analysis through to contract negotiation and deal closure.
  2. Analyze customer demand and prepare the technical/commercial offer based on the customer's specification requirements while considering the requirements of operations, production plants, and sales organization guidelines.
  3. Work closely with internal stakeholders, including the sales team, finance, legal, engineering, and project management teams, to build the quotation and ensure bids are comprehensive, accurate, and aligned with client requirements.
  4. Challenge inputs from stakeholders to optimize the technical and commercial offer.
  5. Answer customer questions throughout the costing phase (technical support, sales support).
  6. Identify potential suppliers and subcontractors for project equipment and services; evaluate proposals from suppliers and subcontractors.
  7. Monitor the transition of the offer to the project when it is won and participate in the preparation for the project launch.
  8. Maintain a detailed database of all submitted bids, including outcomes and reasons for wins and losses, to continuously improve future results.

Background:

  1. Bachelor/Master’s degree in engineering or Economics.
  2. 2-5 years of experience in Sales roles, preferably inside the industrial field.
  3. Fluent oral and written French and English (B2/C1).
  4. Occasional travel in France.
  5. Proactivity, resilience, customer-oriented mindset, and outstanding communication skills are required.
