Job Description:

Socotec Monitoring France, a subsidiary of the Socotec group based on the Saclay Plateau, is an SME specialized in instrumentation and monitoring of various infrastructures (nuclear power plants, dams, bridges, tunnels, networks...) and buildings.

We are seeking our new Environmental Instrumentation and Measurements Activity Manager within the Industry & Environment department of Socotec Monitoring France.

Joining us means contributing to shaping a sustainable future for our infrastructures and environment. The Environment activity is a strategic pillar addressing tangible issues such as:

  • Transport Infrastructure: like bridges, tunnels, railways, and ports, where we aim to reduce environmental impacts while ensuring safety.
  • Energy Infrastructure: from nuclear plants to onshore and offshore wind farms, photovoltaic farms, and hydroelectric dams, supporting major energy projects to be more environmentally respectful.
  • Commercial and Real Estate: monitoring environmental impact of buildings for more sustainable and resilient cities.

Our mission is to measure and help reduce the environmental impact of civil engineering projects. This includes noise, vibrations, dust control, water quality preservation, and biodiversity protection, using concrete and measurable solutions.

We utilize cutting-edge technologies: smart sensors, IoT, and AI-based tools, allowing proactive impact measurement, anticipation, and reduction, providing precise client solutions.

The future Environmental Activity Manager will play a key role in its development:

  • Leading impactful projects with human and environmental significance.
  • Supporting teams and clients in transforming environmental constraints into opportunities.
  • Strengthening Socotec Monitoring France's position as a reference player in environmental management of major industrial and infrastructure projects.

Main Missions:

Managing the team and ensuring quality and profitability (70%):

  • Lead and motivate a team of 6 members, managing recruitment, development, training, and performance reviews.
  • Ensure safety of team members involved in projects.
  • Achieve quality, revenue, and margin objectives.
  • Manage a profit center, including budget planning, monitoring, and administrative management.
  • Ensure team deliverables with support from project engineers, technical referents, and experts when needed.
  • Oversee production management through regular team meetings.
  • Plan resources (equipment and personnel) across project phases.
  • Implement monitoring installations and participate in interventions (sensor installation, measurement campaigns), with travel within France and abroad.
  • Manage contractual and financial aspects of projects.
  • Contribute to activity budgeting.

Business Development (30%):

  • Prospect in collaboration with sales teams.
  • Communicate and support clients.
  • Participate in design studies and define technical solutions per client specifications.
  • Assist in project costing and budgeting.
  • Develop professional network (trade shows, conferences).
  • Follow development and innovation activities within the Business Line (measurement systems, sensors, AI-based software solutions, Edge Computing).
  • Create new offerings in emerging markets.
  • Participate in group R&D and development committees.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree from a Grande Ecole (Centrale, INSA, Mines, ESTP) or equivalent, with:
    • Experience managing profit centers is a plus.
    • 3-4 years project management experience.
    • 1-2 years team management experience.
  • Strong interest in large infrastructure projects and measurement technologies.
  • Leadership, challenge-seeking, excellent interpersonal and commercial skills, service orientation.
  • Willing to travel within France and internationally as needed.
  • Valid driver's license (B).
