A Day in the Life

Your role involves contributing to Medtronic's positioning with policymakers and institutional stakeholders by implementing projects that support Medtronic's engagement with France's healthcare priorities: access to innovation, digital health dissemination, economic sustainability, industrial and health sovereignty, and environmental impact reduction.

The responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following activities:

  1. Strategic Monitoring: Conduct strategic monitoring of the political, legislative, and regulatory environment relevant to Medtronic in France and Europe. Implement actions to analyze these issues internally.
  2. External Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, professional associations, and industry experts, to promote Medtronic's positions and influence public decision-making.
  3. Project Management: Lead government affairs projects involving cross-functional teams, provide strategic recommendations, and support departmental objectives. Contribute to other teams' projects within government affairs for overall success.
  4. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all public affairs activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  5. International Collaboration and Communication: Foster cross-functional collaboration and communicate project progress internally, in France, and internationally. Collaborate closely with the European Government Affairs team to share achievements and develop expertise.

Internal key contacts include: Health Economics & Reimbursement team, Business Unit Communication team, Enterprise Accounts team, and European Government Affairs team. External contacts include: local and national elected officials, representatives of professional organizations, and policymakers.

Required Knowledge and Experience
  • Excellent understanding of the French institutional system, legislative process, and decision-making mechanisms.
  • Deep knowledge of French politics, healthcare system, and pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Diplomacy and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Autonomy and initiative.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate professional meetings.
  • Excellent writing, synthesis, and communication skills tailored to different audiences.
  • Analytical skills and proficiency with IT tools.
  • Higher education (Master’s degree or equivalent, e.g., Political Science Institute) with at least 5 years of successful experience in public affairs within large international companies.
  • Excellent English skills.
