Supplying customers with safe, more technically advanced geological, surface formation evaluation, drilling monitoring, and light well intervention services. We help our clients drill wells more efficiently by providing them with drilling performance analyses and critical information about lithology and formation fluids.

Based in Colombes, France (92), the Engineering Group develops and tests sensors and instrumentation designed to operate in the harsh conditions of oil sites.

Job Summary :

We are seeking a dynamic and open-minded Lead R&D Engineer with a strong scientific background and a collaborative mindset to contribute to a range of projects in analytical measurements . You will apply your technical expertise in a cross-functional environment, working closely with engineers, technicians, and external partners on the development, industrialization, and support of cutting-edge analytical instruments.

Initially, your focus will be on contributing to ongoing interdisciplinary projects , providing engineering and scientific input, and supporting the execution of technical tasks. Over time, and as your experience within the team grows, you will be given increasing responsibility to take ownership of project streams and potentially lead full development efforts .

This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of analytical chemistry , applied physics , and engineering , while also gaining exposure to various systems such as sensors, electro-mechanical assemblies, and pneumatic automation.

  • This role includes occasional international travel .

Key responsibilities :

  • Contribute technical expertise to the development and improvement of analytical instrumentation .
  • Support product industrialization and problem-solving efforts in collaboration with design, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Perform data analysis , consolidate findings, and communicate results effectively to stakeholders.
  • Supervise and support a technician , providing guidance on daily tasks and ensuring quality and efficiency in execution.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers and a global network of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Participate in knowledge sharing and continuous improvemen t initiatives across the team.
  • Take on increasing project responsibilities over time, with potential for technical leadership .
  • Travel as needed to production sites, test facilities, and partner locations.

Required Qualifications :

  • MSc or PhD in Applied / Analytical Chemistry, Engineering , Applied / Technical Physics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of industrial experience, ideally in analytical instrumentation or complex systems.
  • Strong, hands-on proficiency in gas chromatography is essential;
  • Familiarity with XRD and XRF techniques is a plus.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to scientific detail.
  • Proficiency in data mining and analysis, and reporting technical results.
  • Effective organization and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills in both English and French .
  • Proficiency in MS Office and technical documentation tools.

Preferred (not mandatory) :

  • Experience in the Oil & Gas or Process Industries.
  • Understanding thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
  • Working knowledge of Matlab for data analysis and modeling.
