Job summary

David Kennedy Recruitment is working with a company developing AI-powered conversational products, seeking to onboard a Mid/Senior AI LLM Engineer to join their team remotely.

The role focuses on fine-tuning and improving self-hosted large language models that power personalised AI conversations, training datasets, evaluation frameworks and GPU-based training, taking model improvements from experimentation through to production deployment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience fine-tuning open-weight AI language models for production.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience with PyTorch and Hugging Face.
• Proficient in LoRA/QLoRA fine-tuning methods.
• Familiarity with DPO/GRPO preference-based training.
• Experience building training datasets and evaluation frameworks.
• Practical experience with GPU-based training and debugging.
• Experience with consumer-facing AI products.
• Comfort with uncensored AI content and moderation material.

Responsibilities

• Train and fine-tune language models to improve conversation quality.
• Prepare and improve training datasets for natural responses.
• Develop testing methods to measure model quality.
• Improve memory, personality consistency, and long-running dialogue.
• Develop multilingual conversational capabilities.
• Investigate model failures and optimize data and prompts.
• Run GPU-based training experiments and troubleshoot issues.
• Deploy models into production and monitor performance.
• Collaborate with AI engineering, product, web, and DevOps teams.
