Overview

Release Train Engineer (Project Manager II) LexisNexis Risk Solutions is seeking a passionate Project Manager and servant leader with excellent Agile knowledge to embrace Release Train Engineer (RTE) responsibilities. The candidate will manage an Agile Release Train (ART) in a scaled agile framework (SAFe), over a group of 20+ squads as part of our Technology group.

This role requires an experienced Agile practitioner on SAFe, with excellent leadership skills who loves solving problems and operating at a transversal level. You will be a key contributor to the continued success of our software development organization with SAFe. This RTE will ensure the ART functions smoothly, teams are aligned, and value is delivered effectively, acting as a facilitator, coach, and problem solver.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: Undergraduate or Master’s degree (preferred) from an accredited educational institution.

  • Certifications: Scrum Master certification required; SAFe RTE certification desired or proven equivalent experience. PMI Agile Practitioner’s Certification preferred.

  • Experience: 5+ years of RTE / Project Management in the Software Development domain and Product Increment planning for the ART. Experience in working across multiple teams, facilitating joined contributions and alignment. Strong leadership with a passion to lead continuous improvement culture through the teams. Acts as a servant leader, guiding and supporting the ART to deliver value effectively and efficiently.

  • Agile/SAFe proficiency: Experience with Agile development practices (Scrum, Kanban, and other Agile methodologies) and a deep understanding of SAFe principles and their application in a scaled environment.

  • Tools: Advanced proficiency in Jira and associated Atlassian plugins (XRAY, Confluence, Advanced Roadmap, etc.), JQL searches, running reports, capturing metrics, and ensuring adherence. Proficiency with SharePoint, GitHub, Miro, Power BI, and Excel. Ability to adapt and use company-specific tools for collaboration and reporting. Ability to use AI tools and proactively suggest AI solutions to enhance squad productivity.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written English communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, product managers, and executives. Collaboration with resources and squads across France and multiple English-speaking countries is required.

  • Other: Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills; coaching and mentoring skills to improve performance and foster a collaborative environment; leadership to drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership: Serve as a key leader for the Technology group to ensure cross-squad scope of work is organized and delivered according to SAFe.

  • Alignment & Backlog: Ensure teams are aligned with strategic goals. Oversee continuous backlog refinement activities and guide Product Owners and Product Managers.

  • ART Events: Lead and facilitate key ART events like PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt workshops. Ensure outcomes are communicated to stakeholders and monitor execution.

  • Coaching & Mentoring: Coach teams and individuals on SAFe principles; lead the Scrum Masters chapter working group and function as a Scrum Master for transversal squads.

  • Impediments & Dependencies: Identify and remove impediments; manage dependencies between cross-teams and external stakeholders to minimize disruptions.

  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by facilitating retrospectives, analyzing feedback, and implementing changes to optimize ART performance. Evangelize SAFe and onboard newcomers as needed.

  • Stakeholder Management: Communicate with stakeholders, provide progress updates, and ensure alignment with business deliverables.
