The AWS Environmental team plays a vital role in AWS’s global growth and compliance, managing environmental programs across data centers, facilities, and products. We are seeking a Regional Environmental Engineer to oversee environmental compliance in the Paris region. This role involves ensuring regulatory standards, guiding regional operations, conducting performance analysis, supporting due diligence, and liaising with government and stakeholders.
Candidates should have excellent communication skills, local language proficiency, strong regulatory knowledge, and proven success in program development and project management of complex projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading change across multiple sites and influencing teams.
- Managing compliance with environmental regulations and policies.
- Supporting environmental due diligence and permitting.
- Developing regional environmental programs and fostering an environmentally responsible culture.
- Ensuring contractor and employee compliance with standards.
- Creating and monitoring environmental metrics.
- Conducting environmental audits for continuous improvement.
- Managing multiple complex projects concurrently.
- Representing Amazon with government agencies.
- Building stakeholder relationships for risk management.
- Reporting to governmental agencies and investigating incidents.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental engineering, geology, geography, biology, chemistry, or related field, with 7+ years of relevant experience. Expertise in environmental compliance, permitting, waste management, and regulatory assessments is required, along with project management skills and proficiency in MS Office. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.
