Position Summary
The receptionist is responsible for welcoming guests and assisting them throughout their stay at the hotel. They handle check-in and check-out formalities, billing, and payments. They respond to guest requests, provide information, offer assistance, and help resolve any issues or complaints. They may be required to work various shifts depending on service needs.
Specific Missions
- Responsibilities:
- Warmly welcomes guests upon arrival, addressing them by name when known and following brand standards (the “15/5” rule);
- Handles check-in formalities by confirming reservation details with guests;
- Ensures guest identity and legal compliance (ID verification);
- Ensures adequate payment guarantees (by card or cash);
- Presents hotel services, outlets, and opening hours to guests;
- Offers paid upgrades to higher room categories to generate additional revenue;
- Thanks guests after check-in and directs them to their rooms;
- Requests luggage handling assistance and assists colleagues as needed;
- Promotes the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program;
- Ensures a seamless digital guest experience via GXP Empower and Mobile Control Panel;
- Follows billing instructions for special arrangements;
- Charges prepaid reservations' credit cards according to standards;
- Gathers feedback during check-out and prepares final invoices;
- Handles payments and closes invoices;
- Thanks guests and invites them to return;
- Manages cash float, ensuring accuracy;
- Handles incidents or refers them to supervisors;
- Communication:
- Uses clear, professional language with colleagues and guests;
- Assists colleagues and communicates discreetly;
- Answers phones promptly and warmly, using guest names when possible;
- Provides information via in-person, phone, email, and chat channels;
- Procedures and Standards:
- Protects privacy and confidentiality;
- Follows company and departmental procedures;
- Human Resources Management:
- Completes mandatory training;
- Leads by example, promoting company values such as putting people first, acting with integrity, and pursuing excellence.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Guest relations, responsiveness, appearance, availability, smiling, warm demeanor, stress resilience, fluency in English, and a third language as a plus.
