Job summary

Exponential AI is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Conversational AI team in Paris. You will work on real-time multimodal voice assistants, backend infrastructure, and data models that power intelligent behavior across devices and platforms.

The role combines embedded and frontend exposure with cloud services (AWS) and containerized environments (Kubernetes). Strong TS/Node.js skills and LLM experience are essential for success.

Qualifications

• MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of industry experience writing production-ready code in TypeScript.
• Experience building TypeScript applications that interact with LLMs, including prompt engineering, testing, and retrieval strategies (e.g., RAG chunking).
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js development.
• Data-model design principles.
• Experience with SQL; Python and FastAPI is a plus.
• Full-stack exposure (backend and frontend) is beneficial.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Take a leading role in building and scaling our real-time multimodal, proactive voice interaction assistant.
• Contribute to the backend infrastructure powering our voice systems.
• Collaborate to design and implement data models shaping the assistant's behavior and intelligence.
• Work with a high-performing team of engineers, sharing ideas and driving innovation.
• Gain experience across embedded devices, front-end interfaces, backend infrastructure, cloud services (AWS), and Kubernetes-based environments.
