IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law seeks a policy-support role to assist Ramsar Site designation and information updates. You will evaluate Ramsar Information Sheets and prepare documentation for designation and updates, while helping Contracting Parties enter data into RSIS for new designations and updates.

The role emphasizes conservation and sustainable use of wetlands, supporting regional meetings and collaboration with the Secretariat in a multicultural Europe-focused environment.

Qualifications

• University degree in a subject relevant to wetland conservation and sustainable use.
• Experience in fieldwork related to wetlands is preferred.
• Familiarity with Europe region is required.
• Ability to work in English is essential; second official language (French or Spanish) is required.

Responsabilités

• Evaluate Ramsar Information Sheets and prepare documentation for designation and updates.
• Provide support to Contracting Parties to enter data in RSIS for new designations and updates.
• Assist in addressing conservation and sustainable use issues of wetlands in the Europe region.
• Promote use of conservation mechanisms and guidelines under the Convention, including management tools.
• Maintain routine contacts with governments, NGOs, and international partners; support regional meetings and Standing Committee events.
• Compile and draft information on technical and policy issues related to wetland conservation.
