  • Knowledge of industrial processes such as cable manufacturing.

Role Definition

Context

The Project team is responsible for the successful execution of projects with maximum customer satisfaction. It is spread across several locations.

Depending on the project scope, contract requirements, complexity, or individual competence, the Quality Engineer may also be assigned temporarily as a Project Health & Safety Manager or Project Environmental Manager. See separate Job Descriptions for these areas of responsibility.

Purpose

Manage all aspects of Quality in project execution and during the Tender phase when required.

Ensure that Nexans’ Management system, procedures, and Client’s requirements and expectations are met.

Ensure the project team is knowledgeable about and compliant with G&T Management systems and tools.

Assist in the continuous improvement of the organization regarding Quality activities.

Areas of responsibility

General Description

As the Project Quality Manager, manage the required Quality activities for the project by preparing and communicating the relevant Project Plans and Procedures from project start-up to close-out, in compliance with the project model requirements.

Specific Descriptions

  • Assist the Project Team in meeting their day-to-day responsibilities for Quality performance.
  • Ensure effective coordination and communication with Plant Quality, Land, and Marine Installation project teams related to Quality assurance activities.
  • Coordinate with the Client on Quality topics.
  • Establish the Project Quality Plan as per template and monitor compliance.
  • Manage and distribute specific project KPIs related to Quality.
  • Develop Inspection & Test Plans, establish the Project Inspection and Test Plan as per process and template, and ensure activities are performed according to the QS Plan.
  • Plan, notify, and coordinate with Clients on applicable R, W, and H points from the project ITP (not applicable for Nx own Manufacturing).
  • Organize project document reviews and manage customer comments and document revisions until full approval.
  • Establish Final Documentation Index file and follow-up on completeness and status; coordinate collection of Quality documents.
  • Establish Project Compliance report and organize review meetings; monitor compliance with Project Model Stage Gates.
  • Ensure thorough review and approval of changes impacting the project execution.
  • Manage Non-Conformance Reporting, concessions, and deviations.
  • Support the FMEA process when required.
  • Assist and coordinate Client, Supplier, and Subcontractor Audits.
  • Facilitate Lessons Learned processes.
  • In tender, analyze Quality demands and provide input to the Tender Manager.

Expected results

  • Ensure project execution complies with contract quality requirements, Nexans G&T standards, and regulatory environment.
  • Develop preventive actions to reduce non-quality costs and non-conformances.
  • Mitigate risks with appropriate measures.
  • Use quality assurance planning tools effectively to meet Quality targets.

Requested Competencies and Qualifications

  • Supporting Senior or Specialist Project Quality Managers, with some understanding of Quality within Nexans projects.
  • 0-4 years of experience as Quality Manager from manufacturing, installation, or offshore sectors.
  • Skilled in Project Management and methods.
  • Understanding of project-driven organizations and requirements.
  • Trained and certified in Quality and Risk Management.
  • University degree (MSc, MBA, BSc or similar), preferably in engineering or QHSER discipline.
  • Knowledge of industrial processes such as cable manufacturing, relevant industry, and marine/land installation works.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
