Role: Site QA Engineer

Location: Hunterston B — until December, then across EDF sites.

Type: Permanent role

Salary Benchmarking: £45,000 - £48,000

We currently have an opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our Altrad Babcock team.

Roles and Responsibilities
Health & Safety
  • Ensure all activities are controlled in a responsible, safety-conscious climate, meeting Altrad’s requirements and current legislation.
  • Apply relevant Engineering Standards & Specifications to achieve world-class HSEQ performance, complying with all technical and environmental legislative requirements.
  • Lead by example, setting correct standards and demonstrating a positive attitude.
  • Ensure the safety of people and the environment.
  • Familiarize with associated mechanical, civils, and quality procedures.
  • Understand and exceed clients’ needs and expectations to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and control scope, time, and cost, with proactive mitigation when required.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship within the facilities.
  • Implement best practices and seek innovations supporting continuous quality improvement.
  • Use continuous improvement tools and techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Adhere to absence management and timekeeping procedures.
  • Follow and sign off suitable risk assessments.
  • Record and report delays to the Project Team.
  • Accurately record all required HSEQ documentation.
Quality Assurance
  • Develop and implement the Altrad Integrated Management System (AIMS) at the working location.
  • Ensure project work complies with relevant Client Specifications & British Standards.
  • Develop, approve, and monitor project Quality Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Subcontractor Quality Plans (QPs).
  • Support Project Managers/Engineers with project setup documentation and ensure QP/ITP sign-offs are completed concurrently with work.
  • Manage the LTR strategy requirements, including coordination, compilation, checking, approval, and storage of Projects/Delivery Partners/Sub-Contractor LTRs for timely submission.
  • Ensure inspection certificates are completed in line with the QP/ITP schedule and included in the LTR.
  • Conduct periodic Quality Management System audits to ensure adherence to procedures.
  • Monitor Vendor Performance and assess Suppliers/Subcontractors as appropriate.
  • Support and lead continuous improvement activities.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned.
Experience Required
  • Qualifications ranging from Diploma, Associate, to Degree level, including CQI Certificate or Bachelor’s Degree in Quality or HNC Engineering (desirable).
  • NVQ Qualification in Nuclear/Engineering-related area.
  • Demonstrable experience in a Quality Engineering (QA/QC) role.
  • Skilled and experienced Auditor.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Business Process Mapping.
  • Ability to effectively lead a team.
