Position Description

The EMEA Market Development Manager position is a member of the EMEA Biosciences Segment Market Development team. They will contribute to the growth of our Biotech and Pharma markets by owning the strategy build, development, and execution of regional marketing plans to drive divisional and group growth in Biotech and Pharma. Part of this role is also to support Biosciences Division (BID) OEM business.

We are searching for a dynamic candidate who recognizes the potential of combining creativity and analytics to drive impactful marketing campaigns. To excel in this role, the successful candidate should possess outstanding skills in navigating a matrixed organization, ensuring alignment among various parties involved, and effectively managing complex projects within budget and on schedule.

This is an individual contributor role with high visibility, working in a cross-functional organization.

Market Development

Develop strategic, multi-channel coordinated market development plans for Biotech and Pharma customers, crafting or applying competitor analysis, business trends, market opportunities, and staging and pacing of tactical programs to drive revenue growth.

Develop sales enablement tools and customer-facing materials in collaboration with global marketing, marketing operations, and commercial teams.

Closely collaborate with EMEA Regional Market Development (RMD) managers to help drive portfolio strategy within the Biotech and Pharma segments.

Partner with our BID Biotech and Pharma commercial team to build tactical plans that enable the team to deliver on the pre-defined strategy and growth commitments.

Be the BID EMEA driver in broader regional and global marketing teams to influence activities and deploy them effectively in BID EMEA.

Drive messaging and tools that communicate the value proposition directly to Biotech and Pharma customers through marketing campaigns, distributors, and events.

Define Biotech and Pharma contact engagement strategy to increase the impact of marketing campaigns, including but not limited to 3rd party networks, LinkedIn, ResearchGate, etc.

Work closely with the OEM commercial leader to develop the OEM value proposition and provide marketing support to increase awareness of our capabilities.

Review targets and dashboards to measure the efficiency of your marketing activities; report on these metrics regularly and adjust tactics to improve performance.

Propose and execute customer and market research programs to provide key market insights and actionable business outcomes.

Provide relevant training and communicate market trends directly to sales teams regularly.

Deliver digital marketing campaigns that support commercial revenue goals.

Ensure the return on investment of marketing activities aligns with EMEA targets.

Support additional projects and activities as necessary to support the life sciences business.

Collaboration

Work closely with the following key collaborators:

  • Regional and global market development teams and digital teams to optimize digital media plans.
  • Cross-divisional Life Sciences marketing teams and the broad Thermo Fisher network to ensure a customer-focused approach to maximize customer experience.
  • Corporate brands to align on value propositions.
  • Data science groups to improve the use of predicted analytics and data science in marketing plays.
  • CRM teams for segmentation.
Education, Experience & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields.

Experience in a marketing role, responsible for product or portfolio marketing, go-to-market strategy, and execution.

Experience in biotech or pharma industry preferred.

Knowledge of the marketing mix, media outreach, content strategy, VOC/VOS, segmentation, multi-channel lead generation, value proposition, demand and lead generation strategies, and marketing program development and execution.

Ability to prioritize.

Strong influence skills within a large, matrixed organization and ability to build cross-divisional and cross-group networks.

Collaborative approach to strategy, tactics, and analytics, with a strong record of building alignment across teams.

Creativity, problem-solving skills, and strong analytical and execution capabilities.

Ability to plan, monitor, and manage budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.

Travel required (~25%), including international.

Demonstrates the 4I’s: Innovation, Integrity, Intensity, and Involvement.

This role is onsite (4 days in the office, 1 day remote) based in Inchinnan, Scotland; Milan, Italy; Madrid, Spain; Paris, France; or Darmstadt, Germany. International travel may be up to 25% annually, including overnight stays.
