We currently offer an exciting opportunity for a Production Underwriter to join the FM Affiliated team, reporting to the Director FM Affiliated Paris.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and growing a profitable portfolio within a designated territory, aligned with corporate and FM Affiliated policies, strategies, and objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Promote and market FM Affiliated products and loss prevention engineering services to a network of producers, ensuring a steady flow of new business opportunities and maintaining a stable existing portfolio.
  • Research and recommend new broker appointments, establishing multiple contacts to maximize opportunities and foster long-term relationships.
  • Develop, maintain, and grow a profitable book of business by evaluating risks through broker submissions, collaborating with account engineering for risk assessments, and determining appropriate program structures and line settings to optimize retention.
  • Negotiate coverage, pricing, terms, and conditions to adapt to market conditions and meet customer needs in a cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain regular contact with brokers and clients to monitor and manage changes in their business and exposures.

Ensure excellent and responsive service to brokers and clients, handling submissions, proposals, policies, billing, and midterm changes efficiently and accurately. Provide expert advice on insurance coverage and risk management, coordinating with various departments to deliver comprehensive products and services, demonstrating speed and ease in transactions. Lead account teams to add value and strengthen relationships.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, finance, or risk management certification preferred.
  • At least 5 years of underwriting or brokerage experience in commercial property insurance, with exposure to various occupancies and sizes. An engineering background is a plus.
  • Understanding of risk identification, property coverage, forms, financial statements, and business applications.
  • Attention to detail, excellent time management, planning, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proactive, resilient, motivated, and perseverant.
  • Team player capable of working independently with sound judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within France and occasionally to the USA.
