Overview

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Production Manager to lead API manufacturing operations within our small molecule facility. This is a key role within the site leadership team, responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients under GMP standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of small molecule synthesis and a hands-on approach to operational management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day production of small molecule APIs, ensuring delivery against safety, quality, and output targets.
• Lead and develop a team of operators, supervisors, and technical staff across multiple shifts.
• Ensure all production activities comply with GMP, EHS, and internal quality standards.
• Work closely with planning and supply chain to meet manufacturing schedules and capacity plans.
• Collaborate with QA, QC, Engineering, and Process Development teams to support batch execution, investigations, and continuous improvement.
• Support technology transfer, scale-up, and process validation activities for new products.
• Oversee equipment readiness, cleaning validation, and documentation control.
• Monitor key performance indicators (e.g. yield, downtime, throughput) and drive operational efficiency.
• Ensure effective training, onboarding, and competency of production personnel.

Candidate Profile

Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.

Significant experience in API or chemical manufacturing, with strong understanding of small molecule processes.

Proven track record in a GMP environment, including supervisory or team leadership experience.

Familiar with batch manufacturing records, deviation handling, and regulatory requirements.

Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative leadership style.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, regulated environment with a focus on continuous improvement.

Experience with ERP or MES systems (e.g. SAP) is an advantage.
