Within the last 10 years, the Private Markets team has developed an attractive offering including dedicated investment structures (feeder funds, co-investments, fund-of-funds and bespoke mandates) across various sub-strategies that enable sophisticated private banking clients to invest in private markets. The purpose of the new position is to manage the private market business’ legal and tax requirements related to the existing offering and new initiatives in close collaboration with the Legal, Compliance & Risks functions of Bank Julius Baer, as well as relevant external stakeholders. As a member of the Private Equity team you will be actively involved in all aspects of the global private markets business at Bank Julius Baer.

Location: Zurich, Luxembourg or Dublin
Your challenge
  • Set-up new investment structures in Europe and offshore jurisdictions for the existing private market shelf
  • Oversee subscription process for commitments into target funds including KYC/AML
  • Be the first point of contact for all structuring related questions concerning the private markets offering from clients and stakeholders
  • Oversee and maintain fund legal documentations including distribution agreements with fund manager, service provider documents, fund subscription, corporation and legal documents
  • Review legal and marketing documents with external and internal legal and compliance teams
  • Notify/register investment structures with regulators in different jurisdictions
  • Oversee fund legal and tax due diligences with external parties
  • Initiate and review investor fund tax reporting in various jurisdictions with external parties
  • Monitor market trends and regulatory framework developments, responsible for the evaluation of business implications
  • Work closely with the private equity team to map and implement new products and offerings globally, responsible for new product approvals and the implementation of new structuring initiatives
  • Relationship management of external fund service provider and internal stakeholders
Your profile
  • University degree in a relevant area such as Law or Finance with relevant core area
  • Minimum five years of private markets fund structuring and relevant experience in a leading international law firm, financial institution or within the private equity industry
  • Strong knowledge and experience in private markets investment structures, including different European AIF structures, offshore vehicles, and other local fund structures for popular European markets
  • Extensive experience in project management and stakeholder management, especially in a private wealth management setting
  • Entrepreneurship, being flexible and motivated to work in a dynamic team to further grow a business in a dynamic environment
  • A good understanding of the operational and legal framework in private equity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships and manage different stakeholders
  • Fluent in English, German or other languages of advantage
