We seek a Principal Software Development Engineer to join our team of experienced software developers.

What You’ll Do on a Typical Day

1. Take a holistic systems approach to analyze use cases, design, implement, and maintain integrated solutions using standard engineering methodologies.
2. Conduct day-to-day activities effectively while solving complex issues within your engineering domain.
3. Research and recommend frameworks and architectural/code design patterns.
4. Creatively test and maintain software applications and related systems using a variety of software development tools.
5. Lead and actively participate in design and code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables.
6. Partner with Product teams to refine business requirements.
7. Collaborate with peers across regions, within and outside your direct organization.
8. Seek and share domain and industry knowledge between multi-functional teams to improve engineering practices.
9. Apply expertise in integration, communication, and interoperability among applications, databases, and platforms to deliver fully functional solutions to business problems.
10. Advocate for operational excellence and project quality via system resilience and scalability, testing, monitoring, alerting.
11. Report on the status of high-visibility projects to leadership.
12. Enthusiastically seek opportunities to improve our customers' experiences.
13. Mentor and guide other engineers in designing software that is maintainable, testable, and observable.

What We’re Looking For

1. 12+ years of development experience, including at least 3 years as a Principal Engineer.
2. Bachelor's or Master’s in Computer Science or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
3. Strong experience developing and delivering highly available enterprise web applications using Java, Kotlin, and Spring.
4. Strong Experience in front-end web technologies including JavaScript and React.
5. Deep understanding of web platform technologies using REST and SOAP web service protocols.
6. Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure, deployment pipeline, and multiple database/data store technologies.
7. Ability to understand highly complex systems and explain technology choices to technical and non-technical observers.
8. Experience leading complex, well-defined projects and guiding integrations across teams within a business unit.
9. Experience in mentoring Senior Software engineers and applying engineering principles to improve existing systems.
10. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to address challenges effectively.
11. Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
