Ubisoft recrute un Principal R&D Scientist au sein de son équipe à Bordeaux. Vous serez responsable de la direction de projets de recherche sur les comportements de bots et des technologies pour les jeux vidéo. Description du poste

As Principal R&D Scientist on the topic of bots and behaviors, you will act as an innovation leader and recognized domain expert. You will be accountable for articulating a research vision and executing a research portfolio that is coherent, ambitious, multidisciplinary, and makes a concrete impact on our core business.

The position is based in Ubisoft Bordeaux within the French department of La Forge (Ubisoft La Forge).

As a valued team member, you will:

  • Lead strategic research projects, evaluate emerging computer science technologies and trends applicable to bot and NPC behaviors, considering both player experience and creator assistance.
  • Explore innovative methods to accelerate production workflows with significant impact.
  • Collaborate with internal and external leaders and specialists.
  • Provide strategic advice on designing, implementing, operating, and optimizing production workflows for new generations of games.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coordinating the research team focused on bots & behaviors, including exploration of research directions, projects, internships, and collaborations with production and other departments. Building and communicating the roadmap for bots & behaviors.
  • Supervising current French PhD students working on transfer learning for human-like behaviors and contributing to the supervision of international PhD students or interns.
  • Identifying relevant academic concepts and transforming them into practical game technologies and workflows.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop ambitious prototypes and ensure their adoption.
  • Influencing departmental roadmaps for production workflows.
  • Sharing insights with stakeholders, including upper management.

Qualifications:

PhD in relevant scientific domains with 10+ years of experience and in-depth expertise. Background in applied or basic research, with hands-on experience in techniques such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, and optimization. Contributions to public research venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, SIGGRAPH). Experience supervising PhDs or researchers is a plus. Proven ability to translate research into operational success.

  • French language skills are a plus.
