The Search, Shopping and Pricing (SSP) division develops products designed to serve multiple customer segments: providers (airlines, alliances, and railway operators), distributors (travel agencies, online travel agencies, tour operators) and new intermediaries (meta-search). The market is innovative, with a strong push from the online players (Google/ITA, Kayak, Expedia …), competitors (Vayant, Sabre) and significant business model evolutions (NDC). The platform supporting these processes is of massive scale in infrastructure (100,000 cores computing transactions), in operations (25,000 transactions per second), in data (350 million fares, petabyte-scale historical datasets), and in software (23 million lines of code).
To serve the main SSP goal of returning the best travel solution, the Pricing Integration & Orchestration (PIO) department interacts with Reservation, Ticketing, and Pricing Engine entities. PIO's role is to recompute prices at shopping time if needed, ensuring customers pay the correct price before payment.
PIO specializes in flight ticket and additional services pricing, including aftersales flows (Amadeus Ticket Changer, Service Changer…).
Through its contribution to several SAFe Agile Release Trains, the department influences the future of Airline IT and Travel Distribution via projects like Offer Management System, Nevio, and Travel Platform, among others. More than a third of team members hold Scrum Master or Product Owner roles.
