Job Title: Principal Consultant – Gas Pipeline/FERC Expert

Location: Washington, DC, Marlborough, MA or remote

Responsibilities:
  • Provide oversight, manage and execute deliverables for client engagement projects from various investor-owned utilities and other client types.
  • Provide a wide range of services required in prudence evaluations, including document review and analysis, written testimony, litigation support, and live testimony in hearings.
  • Evaluate and provide testimony on various prudence issues related to energy and gas pipelines, including those at the FERC level.
  • Assist clients in managing coordination between FERC requirements and regulations and those of other federal and state agencies to minimize duplication and create efficiencies.
  • Provide economic analysis, right of way planning, rate case filing and cost estimates for utility clients.
  • Assist with business development opportunities and building new and existing utility client relationships.
  • Frequently evaluate the performance of existing offerings, recommending adjustments or enhancements to optimize consulting market share.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Economics, Math, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Master’s Degree, MBA or PhD.
  • 10+ years’ experience in the energy utility space, either at a consulting firm, a utility, a public utilities commission, or a Big 4 Accounting firm, or similar organizations.
  • Proven ability to generate consulting services sales and direct team-based business development tasks.
  • Proven experience in leading the ideation, design, and implementation of new service offerings.
  • Experience writing or providing expert witness testimony for utility rate cases or other utility regulatory proceedings.
  • Very strong communication and presentation skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must be able to present complex ideas and strategies to utility leadership.
  • Requires occasional travel to client sites and regulatory hearings, typically throughout the US and Canada.
