The driving force behind our success has always been the people of AspenTech. What drives us is our aspiration, desire, and ambition to keep pushing the envelope, overcoming hurdles, and challenging the status quo to find better solutions. You will experience these qualities—passion, pride, and aspiration—in many ways, from career development programs to community service projects and social events that foster fun and relationships across our global community.

The Role

Our Digital Grid Management (DGM) Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) is a rapidly growing area that enables electric utilities to monitor, manage, control, and optimize their grids. As a Senior Power Systems Engineer in DMS, you will be involved in all aspects of system delivery, working closely with customers to design, build, configure, troubleshoot, and deploy our systems. This role offers broad exposure to the entire ADMS, focusing on advanced applications such as Distribution Power Flow (DPF), Fault Location, Isolation & Service Restoration (FLISR), and Volt/VAR Control & Optimization (VVC/VVO). You will serve as a primary contact during and after project implementation, collaborating with cross-functional teams including Application Engineers, Architecture & Product Solution teams, and Software Development, reporting to an ADMS Delivery Lead or Manager.

Your Impact

  1. Provide technical leadership and act as the face of AspenTech for ADMS projects.
  2. Implement control systems at electric utilities to enhance grid efficiency while meeting contractual requirements.
  3. Lead and contribute to the design, planning, and execution of ADMS projects.
  4. Guide engineers during project execution.
  5. Configure and install advanced distribution management applications such as DPF, FLISR, and VVC/VVO.
  6. Lead testing with customers and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with OSI development teams.
  7. Coordinate with GIS teams to manage electrical network models.
  8. Analyze contractual requirements to identify potential concerns.
  9. Configure and integrate software components, ensuring they meet specifications and are tested with customers.
  10. Train customers on system operations and provide ongoing support for live systems.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of project implementation or operational experience, preferably in the utility sector.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
  • Experience with power systems, electric utility operations, real-time control systems, client/server applications, network communications, UNIX/Linux/Windows OS, and scripting languages like Python, C, or C++.
  • Knowledge of databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, and data formats like JSON and XML.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and awareness of industry standards and trends.
