Job summary

Amazon Web Services, infrastructure arm AIS, seeks a Controls Engineer, Power Loops to develop and validate advanced control algorithms for SST power-conversion loops. You will design and tune PI, MPC, and passivity-based controls, build state-space models, and ensure stability across operating points while enabling real-time deployment with FPGA/DSP and embedded teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Experience with power-converter control and stability analysis, and real-time implementation constraints.

Responsibilities

• Develop PI, MPC, and passivity-based control for converters.
• Build state-space models and perform stability analysis.
• Tune current, voltage and power loops for dynamic and steady-state performance.
• Design and evaluate control algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink and Control Toolbox, and translate them to real-time implementations.
• Analyze system behavior and investigate instability, oscillations, and transient performance.
