About EGIDE

EGIDE is building a new European defense leader focused on scalable, intelligent air-defense architectures. We develop mass-use interceptors designed to neutralize low-cost, high-volume threats such as Shahed-type loitering munitions and FPV drones.

Our systems combine missile-grade lethality with modern software-defined architectures and electrically propelled interceptors, enabling a new class of cost-effective and rapidly deployable air defense solutions.

We are assembling a world-class engineering team to design, test, and industrialize these systems at pace.

About The Role

As a Power Electronics Engineer, you will lead, directly or through design subcontractors under your technical authority, the design and industrialization of the embedded power and control electronics of our airborne and ground systems.

You will own both the power stage and its control: power conversion and distribution, three-phase inverters and motor control for high-speed electric machines, energy storage and power switching circuits, and system power supplies. The scope ranges from a few watts to tens of kilowatts, over a 3V to 60V voltage range and from milliamps to the hundred-amp range, under severe mass, volume, thermal and environmental constraints.

You will cover the design lifecycle from specification to a validated, production-ready definition, integrating manufacturability, assembly and testability (DFM / DFA / DFT) and cost from the first schematic. Industrialization and production are carried out with the support of internal or external manufacturing engineers and EMS partners, with whom you will work closely, as well as with the Munition Safety Engineer and the electronics, embedded software, propulsion and mechanical teams.

What You’ll Do
  • Define power architectures and specify power boards from system requirements: power budgets, voltage rails, protection strategy, energy management, thermal and mass allocations.
  • Design and lead the design of power stages across the full power range:
    • Conversion & distribution: non-isolated and isolated DC/DC converters, high-current distribution, electronic fuses, inrush limiting and precharge, reverse polarity and transient protection
    • Motor drives: three-phase inverters for high-speed permanent magnet machines, gate drive, current sensing, power stage protection
    • Energy storage & switching: capacitor charging circuits, energy accumulation, controlled discharge and high-current switching for safety-critical functions
    • Power supplies: battery and external-source powered supplies for ground equipment
    • Design the control part: motor control algorithms (FOC, sensorless control, field weakening) converter control loops and stability, PWM and ADC synchronization, protection an monitoring functions, in coordination with the embedded software team
    • Size and select power components (Si and GaN MOSFETs, gate drivers, magnetics, capacitors, sensors); compute losses, efficiency and junction temperatures; define thermal, design with mechanical engineers
    • Lead high-current PCB layout: thick copper, busbars, commutation loop minimization, Kelvin connections, partitioning between power and control
    • Implement safety by design on safety-critical power functions (independent barriers, fail-safe states, no Single Point of Failure) with the Munition Safety Engineer; conduct FMECA, derating and reliability analyses
    • Plan and execute validation: simulation (SPICE, PLECS, MATLAB / Simulink), double pulse testing, efficiency and thermal mapping, load and motor test benches, EMC / E3 and environmental qualification
    • Design for manufacturing, assembly and test (DFM / DFA / DFT) with a design-to-cost approach: component standardization, automated assembly compatibility, thermal interface and potting constraints, test access and production test requirements
    • Support the manufacturing engineers and EMS partners during industrialization: design data package, prototype and pre-series builds, technical support on non-conformances and design changes
    • Produce and maintain the definition package (specifications, design justification, ICDs, test and acceptance procedures); participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR, PRR)
You Are a Fit If You Have
  • Engineering degree (power electronics, electrical engineering or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of experience designing low-voltage, high-current power electronics (48 V class and below), from a few watts to several kilowatts, ideally in electric vehicles, drones, aerospace or industrial drives
  • Strong command of DC/DC converter topologies, their control and stability, and of protection and power distribution circuits
  • Proven experience with three-phase inverters and motor control for permanent magnet machines (FOC, sensorless control), from power stage to firmware integration/---
  • Power component expertise: MOSFETs (Si, GaN), gate drivers, magnetics, capacitors, current sensing; loss and thermal calculations
  • Hands-on high-current PCB layout experience and associated ECAD tools (Altium Designer, Cadence, KiCad or equivalent)
  • Practice of simulation tools (LTspice, SIMetrix, PLECS, MATLAB / Simulink)
  • Lab expertise: power stage bring-up, double pulse testing, power analyzers, differential and current probes, thermal imaging
  • Understanding of EMI / EMC constraints of switching converters (input filters, layout,
  • conducted and radiated emissions)
  • Working knowledge of DFM / DFA / DFT constraints for power assemblies and a design-to-cost mindset
  • Ability to write structured engineering documentation and to work across multidisciplinary interfaces
Nice to Have

  • High-speed motor drives and aerospace actuators
  • Capacitor charging, pulsed power or high-current switching circuits
  • Battery systems knowledge (high-discharge lithium cells, BMS)
  • Embedded C for control loops on MCU / DSP
  • Military power and EMC standards (MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-461) and safety-critical design (IEC 61508, ISO 26262 or munition safety standards)
  • Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain one
Why Join EGIDE?
