Job description
To pursue our ambitious vision, we are looking for a Senior Embedded Electrical Engineer. In this role, you will define the embedded software architecture and develop the microcontroller-based electronics at the heart of a satellite power system — coordinating its subsystems, from control loops to telemetry.
Your mission will be to:
- Define and implement the embedded software architecture of the power system: software structure and scheduling, interactions between the subsystems (power conversion, battery/BMS, solar array and other subsystems), and interfaces with the rest of the spacecraft.
- Implement digital control on DSP/MCU platforms: control loops, measurements, signal treatment algorithms and MPPT algorithms.
- Develop the system-level embedded functions: BMS functions, battery charging strategies (CC/CV profiles, current/voltage limits over temperature and state of charge), telemetry, and communication with the spacecraft.
- Design microcontroller-based electronics: MCU selection, schematics, peripherals (ADC, PWM, communication interfaces), and hardware/software integration.
- Build, bring up, and validate prototypes in the lab: functional testing, debugging, and hardware/software integration.
Profile required
- Professional engineering education (MSc or equivalent) in electrical engineering / embedded systems, with 5+ years of hands-on experience in embedded control electronics.
- Embedded C or Rust programming for real-time control on DSP/MCU.
- Experience designing embedded software architectures for systems with multiple interacting subsystems.
- Strong knowledge of MCU peripherals: ADCs, high-resolution PWM, timers, and communication buses (SPI, I2C, CAN, UART).
- Solid foundation in control theory (average modeling, loop compensation) and its digital implementation.
- Good mixed-signal design skills: signal conditioning, sensing chains, protections.
- Autonomy in the lab: oscilloscopes, probes, debuggers, electronic loads.
- Strong analytical skills, a proactive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and unbounded curiosity.
- You enjoy owning your scope end-to-end.
- Professional level English — further languages welcome.
Nice to have:
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, or other high-reliability industries.
- Familiarity with power systems including battery, MPPT, control loops and energy conversion.
- Experience with RTOS.
Company description
Gama is a NewSpace startup based in Ivry-sur-Seine, near Paris. We are developing a next‑generation power system for commercial LEO satellites — from solar array power conversion to battery energy storage. We design, build, and test our hardware in‑house, and we move fast: our engineers see their designs go from schematic to flight hardware.
We are a small team where ownership matters: you own your subsystem end‑to‑end, from first calculations to test results. We work hands‑on, we help each other without ego, and we treat mistakes as data — finding out why something failed is how we get better.
We offer:
- Your work will fly. Contribute directly to the future of space exploration and Sustainable Space.
- Access to cutting‑edge facilities and development opportunities in the heart of the European space industry.
- A steep personal development path, working alongside world class aerospace engineers.
- Equity package and competitive compensation.
- A highly talented, dynamic and international team.
