Not funded by a EU programme Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No
It is a component of the University of Rennes (experimental public establishment).
A true platform for teaching and research in public health, EHESP is structured around departments (human and social sciences / management institute / quantitative methods in public health / environmental health sciences) integrated into an interdisciplinary project that includes accredited research centers. EHESP offers executive training courses for the civil service, national master's degree specializations, specialized master's degrees, doctoral programs and a wide range of lifelong learning opportunities.
EHESP welcomes 1,300 pupils, students and doctoral students and 7,000 continuing education trainees from some 50 different nationalities, and calls on more than 1,000 guest lecturers every year.
This position is part of the Human and Social Sciences department and is attached to the ARENES laboratory in the Health Services and Management Research team(UMR CNRS 6051 - INSERM 1309).
This position is offered to a post-doctoral researcher to contribute to the "behavioral sciences" component of the PREVIX research program. This program, funded by the French National Agency for Research on AIDS, Hepatitis and Emerging Infectious Diseases (ANRS-MIE) as part of PEPR MIE 2024, aims to study, from a multidisciplinary perspective, the multiple issues (infectiological, epidemiological, psychosocial and organizational) involved in preparing for and responding to Respiratory Disease X, i.e. diseases caused by as yet unknown pathogens, in order to make the country more resilient and better prepared for future epidemic risks. Following the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, WHO renewed its list of priority pathogens to include Disease X, caused by "an unknown pathogen with the potential to cause a major international epidemic". The WHO is urging the international community to expand research into as yet unknown pathogens, in order to prepare for the next pandemic, which is likely to be caused by a new respiratory virus. To achieve this, innovative models and research protocols need to be rapidly developed and deployed from the very start of such an epidemic, so that all health authorities and stakeholders can be informed in real time, through analysis, early forecasts and robust projections.
The program involves 9 research teams mobilizing over 30 researchers in France). EHESP is one of 9 French institutions participating in this research program until 2028, coordinated by Mircea Sofonea (University of Montpellier). Supervised at EHESP by researchers Jocelyn Raude (PU in social psychology of health) and Pascal Crépey (EC in epidemiology and biostatistics), the School's contribution to this major multidisciplinary research project focuses more specifically on the study of the potential effects of the main epidemiological parameters (such as contagiousness or lethality) of a disease X on attitudes, attitudes, perceptions and preventive behaviors in order to anticipate and model the dynamics of the spread of new respiratory infectious diseases.
EHESP's main objectives in this research program are to gain a better understanding of the individual and socio-ecological determinants of prevention behaviors - particularly those relating to social interactions. Methodologically, the aim is to determine, through the design and implementation of online experiments, the extent to which certain conventional socio-epidemiological parameters affect social behavior, and the acceptability of different non-pharmaceutical intervention strategies (from educational to coercive approaches). Finally, from a multi-disciplinary perspective, at the interface between epidemiological and behavioral sciences, the aim will be to build a socio-ecological predictive model of prevention behaviors in the face of infectious diseases, to complement the classic socio-cognitive models commonly used in the field of psychology applied to public health.
- Doctorate in the humanities or health sciences with a behavioral component (in particular psychology, behavioral economics, STAPS and public health), defended or in the process of being defended.
- Mastery of multivariate data analysis methods (regression analysis, mediation-moderation analysis, multilevel analysis).
- Proficiency in experimental research methods and instruments
- Proficiency in scientific English (comprehension and writing)
- Previous experience in experimental research on public health issues would be an asset.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of the experimental design, as well as for the analysis and valorization of data collected through online surveys conducted at national level.
