The research conducted in our team presently includes the following topics:

  • Characterisation of pulsating standard candles (Cepheids, RR Lyrae…) using optical interferometry, spectroscopy and astrometry (including ESA’s Gaia mission),
  • Determination of high accuracy interstellar extinction corrections for Milky Way Cepheids,
  • Analysis of HST and JWST images of Type Ia supernovæ host galaxies,

We equally welcome proposals in line with our present research axes or exploring new directions (e.g., related to other distance indicators and/or other observational or numerical methods).

This research will be conducted in the framework of the ERC Synergy Grant UniverScale (2021-2027) and within the Araucaria collaboration . The position is funded fortwo yearsup to 31 October 2027 at the latest. The successful applicant will join the LIRA laboratory of Paris Observatory-PSL and will be mostly based at the CNRS IRL French-Chilean Laboratory in Astronomy (FCLA) in Santiago de Chile.
