Join the Oceanic and Continental Environments and Palaeoenvironments (EPOC) – laboratory of the University of Bordeaux!
This laboratory is a Joint Research Unit under the joint supervision of the University of Bordeaux, the CNRS, Bordeaux INP and the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes.
EPOC is a multidisciplinary UMR developing a strong and recognized expertise in ecotoxicology, ecology, biogeochemistry, environmental chemistry, sedimentology, paleoclimatology, coastal oceanography, marine geosciences.
As part of 2 projects focusing on coastal risk study, we are recruiting a post-doctoral researcher on the ten-year forecast of coastal risks.
These 2 projects are managed by the EPOC laboratory and involve around ten national and regional scientific partners.
- IRIMA, is a project with a national dimension, funded by the National Research Agency within the framework of the PEPR Risks
- CORALI, with a regional dimension, is funded by the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region.
Main activities:
Your mission will be to develop a hybrid ten-year coastal risk prediction system. You will design a statistical method based on the numerical forecast of the international project 'Decadal Prediction Project' available on the Spirit computer network.

Holder of a PhD in Climate Science, Coastal Dynamics or related subject, you have knowledge and experience in computer coding.

Eligibility criteria
This position is located in an area covered by the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST) and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival be authorised by the competent authority of the Ministry.

You will work in relation with all the project partners, as well as with the holders of the Risk PEPR. The expertise of the METHYS team in coastal dynamics is recognized internationally, with modeling approaches, remote sensing and in situ measurements.

The laboratory is located at the heart of the campus of science, near the city-centre of Bordeaux and about 60 Km of the Atlantic coast.
