The Chaire Aging UP! and the Interdisciplinary Applied Research Laboratory in Health Economics (LIRAES URP4470) at Université Paris Cité (UPC), located in Paris, France, are opening a postdoctoral fellowship position in health economics. This position is part of a 3-year, €1.3M research project exploring the societal impact of aging across the European Union, United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as the 3-year ANR project 'Models of Autonomy' (2024-2026), involving teams from applied mathematics and epidemiology at UPC.
The fellowship begins in October 2025 and offers advanced training to applied economists, preparing them for academic careers. The role includes mentored research with faculty and other postdocs, optional teaching experience, a competitive salary, and benefits. The position is based in Paris, France.
Université Paris Cité, established in 2019 from the merger of Paris Diderot, Paris Descartes, and the Institut de physique du globe de Paris, is a leading multidisciplinary university with a global academic network. It offers innovative courses and research programs across various disciplines.
The fellow will be affiliated with LIRAES (URP 4470), the main applied economics research unit at UPC, with 28 members, focusing on health economics related to aging and long-term care. LIRAES aims to analyze health policies and interventions and explore health technology assessment issues. The offices are located at 45 rue des Saints-Pères, 75006 Paris.
The fellow will also join the AgingUP! chair and the ANR 'Models of Autonomy' consortium. The Aging UP! chair includes a director, scientific director, general secretary, postdocs, PhD students, and a research assistant. The current postdoc, Zexuan Wang, researches well-being and capabilities among the French population under joint supervision.
Under the supervision of Pr Thomas Rapp and Dr. Jonathan Sicsic, in collaboration with senior economists, the fellow will conduct empirical research on elderly preferences regarding:
The fellow will analyze survey data, estimate discrete choice models, and co-author manuscripts for publication in leading health economics journals.
