Portfolio Officer - Middle Office

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank committed to financing infrastructure for a sustainable future in Asia and beyond. Since commencing operations in Beijing in 2016, AIIB has grown to 110 approved members worldwide, with a capital of USD 100 billion and a AAA credit rating. AIIB collaborates with partners to meet client needs by unlocking new capital and investing in green, technology-enabled infrastructure that promotes regional connectivity.

The Portfolio Management Department (PMD) oversees the implementation of AIIB-funded projects, ensuring quality, risk management, and adherence to international best practices. It manages a diverse portfolio of sovereign and non-sovereign financed projects, aiming for timely, high-quality project delivery aligned with the Bank’s strategic goals.

The Portfolio Officer - Middle Office reports to the Senior Portfolio Officer and the Head of PMD's Middle Office. The role involves supporting client-facing Portfolio Officers within the Project and Asset Management team by providing administrative, technical, and para-legal assistance, while delivering excellent service to the Bank’s clients.

Responsibilities :

  1. Assist in establishing and maintaining Middle Office systems, processes, and operational procedures to enhance service quality, efficiency, and risk mitigation.
  2. Support Portfolio Officers and project teams in assessing investment performance, compliance review, processing payments, risk mitigation, and identifying portfolio improvement opportunities.
  3. Ensure clients adhere to contractual obligations, especially reporting requirements.
  4. Collaborate with internal teams to maintain accurate project data and documentation for management reporting.
  5. Support initiatives to improve interaction between PMD and other units, including system and process development.
  6. Liaise with other Bank departments as needed.
  7. Document lessons learned and operational insights to improve Bank operations and systems.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of MO.

Requirements :

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in portfolio supervision of private infrastructure projects at international banks or multilateral agencies.
  • Understanding of Middle Office functions in portfolio management and their value addition.
  • Proven ability to resolve operational issues under pressure.
  • Experience managing and auditing financial models; proficiency in financial sensitivity analysis is a plus.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to synthesize complex issues.
  • Experience in deal origination, project structuring, or negotiation is advantageous but not required.
  • Experience in Asia or related regions is a plus.
  • Master’s degree in economics, finance, business administration, international relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
