Context:

As one of GEMS's front divisions, BP Downstream manages activities involving supply entities. Specifically, the Energy Management for Sales France team provides quality energy management services to the BU France BtoC active in the retail French market. The EMS France B2C team collaborates with internal teams such as B2C France, pricing, trading, IT, and finance.

Role:

The main missions as Commodity Portfolio Manager in Energy Management for Sales France include:

  1. Assess and manage commodity risks linked to the dynamics of a sales portfolio, operating and optimizing costing, forecasting, sourcing, and hedging strategies within a defined mandate;
  2. Monitor and explain portfolio financial results related to energy management performance to the commercial BU;
  3. Build representations, tools, and models based on data collection to manage the future supply portfolio;

As Commodity Portfolio Manager in EMS FR, you:

  1. Provide BU BtoC France with deep knowledge of its commodity sales portfolios (Natural Gas, Power, Certificates) and structure the portfolio representation to monitor operational performance and risk drivers;
  2. Closely follow portfolio evolution and adjust its representation accordingly (e.g., commercial position changes, climatic impacts on short-term consumption forecasts);
  3. Define, design, and implement strategies to mitigate, internalize, or externalize risks in collaboration with stakeholders (Trading, other BUs);
  4. Manage and operate your structured portfolio, balancing competitiveness, risk reduction, and cost while ensuring compliance with internal rules;
  5. Monitor and explain portfolio results and performance;
  6. Work with commercial entities to structure and cost standard and non-standard offers, identifying risks and ensuring the use of adequate models and data;
  7. Use and challenge data, models, processes, and tools to meet BU B2C France's vision and ambitions;
  8. Contribute to developing tools, models, processes, and data representation for commercial portfolios;
  9. Study other geographies or sales portfolios within downstream sectors.

Hard skills:

  • Knowledge of energy systems and markets;
  • Knowledge of financial products (use, valuation);
  • Understanding of trading, portfolio, and risk management business;
  • High numeracy, strong analytical skills, with a hands-on approach;
  • Proficiency in Python 3.7 (Numpy, Pandas);
  • Familiarity with APIs (good to have).
