The Paris Peace Forum is a multi-stakeholder platform launched in 2018 that aims to respond to global challenges. Throughout the year, the Forum works to strengthen the governance of global commons such as climate, space or oceans, and to improve international management of global challenges, particularly those of digital and disruptive technologies. Its annual event brings together heads of state, government and international organizations, as well as leaders of civil society and the private sector, to discuss political initiatives and concrete projects, with an emphasis on the participation of the global South.
The team of the permanent secretariat of the association, composed of varied and diverse profiles (diplomacy, public relations, communication, programming, operations, etc.), is currently looking for
a Policy Manager “Global council for responsible transition minerals” to lead the work on transition minerals within the Policy team.
Today, the collaborative response required to ensure responsible minerals for the energy transition is dramatically hindered by a complex and fragmented landscape. The demand for minerals – essential for the manufacture of green technologies, such as solar panels and electric vehicle batteries - is set to surge to meet net zero goals defined under the Paris Agreement. Yet, the current production capacity remains largely insufficient. At the same time, rising production is associated with a range of environmental and social impacts. This situation, combined with the current unprecedented geopolitical tensions, is hindering progress towards an effective and just energy transition.
To respond to these challenges, the Paris Peace Forum launched in 2022 an initiative for a responsible transition minerals sector : the Global Council for Responsible Transition Minerals, a high-level, multistakeholder coalition representing international organizations, governments, civil society organizations and the private sectors, from across the Global North and South. This Global Council is supported by a multistakeholder group of experts, the Special Advisors.
