As a response to that, EDF Power Solutions is seeking for its the Industry Division a PMO Senior Project Manager Renewable Energy - Middle East and Africa (M/F)
Main duties of the role include the preparation of proposals and bid submissions, the optimization of CAPEX/OPEX estimates and time baselines, the analysis of threats and the opportunities, the negotiation and the contracting of the execution phase, etc., while ensuring consistency and alignment with the requirements, standards and policies of EDF Power Solutions and in particular those of the Industry Division, as well as the technological developments of the Sector.
Reporting to the PMO Area Manager overseeing a regional portfolio of projects, you will undertake some of the responsibilities, tasks and duties listed below:
- Be responsible to foster a pro-active Health and Safety culture within the project organizations and Units of his/her perimeter as well with the main contractors, subcontractors and suppliers;
- Act as technical leader for complex large scale projects in Middle East and Africa region (focusing on Africa in the short term) including international tenders, renewable auctions, contracting, etc., ensuring always the technical solution proposed is optimized, at acceptable risk level and in line with renewable technology roadmaps and the EDF Power Solutions good practices and policies;
- Manage a project team of engineers, procurement managers and O&M specialists;
- Manage the negotiation of the contracts that will govern the execution of the project;
- Closely work with the Business Development Project Team and with the Finance Team to optimize the project;
- Be responsible for the technical inputs of the project's Business Plan;
- Ensure a consistent approach (technical and commercial) on the projects of the area, in alignment of the good practices, Policies and guidelines of the Industry Division;
- Set out and selectively participate in the governance bodies of the projects of the area;
- Assess and ensure the project impact and value creation against strategic directives;
- Provide appropriate recommendations or options for action;
- Influence and manage the process of resource allocation;
- Support and assist Project Managers and Sponsors to set-up and enforce project governance principles on selected projects across the group in order to ensure consistency with group policies and best practices;
- Facilitate and occasionally participate in strategic or operational bodies; project boards or technical steering committees;
- Provide regular update on his / her project to the management and to the governance bodies in place;
- Organize and monitor project reviews, peer reviews, technical rescue missions to support projects of his/her perimeter;
- Support and assist project teams of the Group on technical and project management matters, processes, tools and methods;
Desired profile
The successful candidate should have a Master's degree in Engineering, Business management or equivalent and minimum 5 years of experience in a project management position delivering Renewable Energy services such as Wind, Solar, BESS and hybrid plants. Proven international experience is essential.
This position will focus primarily on Wind and BESS technologies, although exposure to all renewable energies is beneficial.
Extensive experience in Renewable Energy projects, covering both upstream (bidding, contracting, pre-construction) and downstream (construction, delivery, contract management) phases, is required to lead technical workstreams across a regional project portfolio.
Competencies
- Project Management: Knowledge of all related areas (scope, cost, time, quality, HSE, risk, communications); PMP certification is a plus.
- Technical Management: Understanding of civil, electrical engineering, and renewable technologies.
- Contract Management: Familiarity with PPA, EPC, O&M, MSA/TSIA, BoS/BoP schemes.
- Experience managing renewable power projects in development, bidding, construction, or operation phases.
- Experience with multi-split construction contracts is advantageous.
- IT Skills: M365, project management and scheduling tools.
Hard Skills
- Strong knowledge of Project Management methodologies; PMP certification is a plus.
- Proficiency in project management software, scheduling tools, and Office Suite.
- Fluent in English; French, Arabic, Spanish, or other languages are a plus.
