OrthoCarolina is seeking a Physician Assistant to work with a provider at the Shelby office. The PA will deliver medical care as delegated by physicians, assist in office, hospital, and operating room settings, and perform ER and floor consultations as needed.

Responsibilities include exams, ordering tests, procedures, documenting care, and developing management plans. Prior orthopedics experience is preferred but not required; NC PA license and NCCPA certification are required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program.
  • Current North Carolina PA license.
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Prior experience in orthopedics preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience as a physician assistant preferred but not required.
  • Physician Assistant State Licensure - State Licensure.

Responsabilités

  • Provides medical care as delegated by OrthoCarolina physicians in office and hospital settings.
  • Assists physicians in operating room when needed.
  • Conducts emergencies room and floor consultations as assigned.
  • Examines patients, collects history, and prepares medical data.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests in collaboration with surgeons.
  • Develops patient management plans and documents care provided.

At OrthoCarolina, we are a diverse group of professionals dedicated to improving lives through orthopedic care and teamwork.

We are currently searching for a Physician Assistant to work with one of our providers at the OrthoCarolina Shelby office location.

The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing medical care as delegated by OrthoCarolina physician(s). Responsibilities may include assisting the physician in both the office and hospital setting, independent clinics seeing patients with a variety of orthopedic injuries and illnesses, assisting in the operating room as needed, and performing emergency room and floor consultations.

Essential Functions
  • Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons/staff.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection. Assesses, applies and/or removes a variety of orthopedic casts, splints, and immobilization devices.
  • Serves as assist‑at‑surgery for orthopedic procedures.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, applies appropriate codes and charges for service, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
  • Dictates patient records including discharge summaries, history and physical evaluations, operative procedure notes, consultations and office visit notes. Documents patient information and care provided in patient record. Uses computer to access/enter needed data.
  • Rounds on hospital inpatients as directed by supervising physician(s) to hospitals assigned and performs emergency room and floor consultations as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
  • Accurately evaluate patient problems in person or via phone and provide appropriate advice, intervention or referral.
  • Skill in evaluating and revising care plans based on patient changes.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program.
  • Current North Carolina PA license.
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Prior experience in the field of orthopedics preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience as a physician assistant preferred but not required.
  • Physician Assistant State Licensure - State Licensure.
