Responsibilities

• Always ensures proper patient identification with two identifiers (name and date of birth) and by comparing labels and wristbands.
• Always verifies outpatient order accuracy.
• Collects patient samples and delivers specimens to the appropriate testing area.
• Logs on LIS correctly and prints labels; never uses another’s password.
• Performs patient registration and ABN generation as part of outpatient services.
