The WHAOU project aims to establish a multi-thematic observatory of well-being and health in Paris, analyzing sewage flow, census, and maintenance data. It seeks to monitor diseases via wastewater, understand links with socio-economic and health indicators, and involve local stakeholders for mitigation. The project involves a consortium led by Sorbonne University, with teams across biochemistry, sociology, philosophy, geography, and urban planning.
The project is organized into Work Packages, with WP2 focusing on the spatio-temporal analysis of health and well-being, including the distribution of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in Paris. This involves analyzing surveillance data, wastewater sampling, and qualitative research on selected sites to understand the socio-spatial vulnerabilities and healthcare accessibility affecting disease distribution.
