An innovative research laboratory is seeking a passionate candidate for a PhD thesis in Cardiovascular Imaging and Pharmacology. This exciting opportunity focuses on exploring therapeutic targets for Takotsubo syndrome, a stress-induced cardiomyopathy. The research will utilize cutting-edge non-invasive imaging techniques and molecular analyses, providing a unique chance to contribute to vital advancements in medical science. Join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to making significant impacts in cardiovascular health, where your scientific curiosity and organizational skills will thrive. This role promises to be both challenging and rewarding, paving the way for a successful career in medical research.
Contexte et mission : OVERVIEW
We are looking for a candidate for a science thesis in Cardiovascular Imaging and Pharmacology. Our laboratory is interested in the non-destructive imaging analysis of energy metabolism and vascularization (Sourdon J et al. Theranostics 2017, Theranostics 2021). We have recently introduced a new non-invasive imaging technique to study these phenomena and their interactions simultaneously (PETRUS, Provost J et al. Nature Biomed Eng 2018, Perez-Liva M. et al. Phys Med Biol 2018, Mol Im Biol 2020, Facchin C et al. Theranostics 2020). Applied to cardiac pathologies, PETRUS combined with molecular and functional analyses provides detailed insights into mechanisms and pharmacological targets for treatment.
PROJECT : Takotsubo syndrome is a stress-induced cardiomyopathy mainly affecting women. It resembles infarction but without coronary artery obstruction. Its prevalence is rising, and it can lead to fatal recurrences. Currently, no treatment exists. We have identified involved metabolic pathways as potential therapeutic targets. Our goal is to explore these avenues using in vivo imaging, proteomic, and transcriptomic approaches.
