Job summary

Mars – Royal Canin in Aimargues (near Montpellier) seeks a Pet & Product Science Officer to lead the management of scientific knowledge assets and robust claim substantiation. You will govern scientific evaluation processes and drive QUEST projects using internal expertise and external specialists.

You will interface with Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Digital, Innovation, Marketing and other R&D functions to ensure knowledge is current, accessible, and translated into business value.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, Biology, Food Science or related field.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to translate complex science into actionable business recommendations.
• Experience in knowledge management, scientific communication, or claim substantiation.
• Experience collaborating with Regulatory Affairs and Legal teams.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• Experience with digital knowledge management and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on nutritional and scientific content of development projects (QUEST).
• Ensure rigorous scientific approach during innovation projects and pre/post-market phases.
• Connect project teams with scientific expertise to accelerate decision-making.
• Provide evidence for product claims substantiation and assess on-pack risks.
• Balance scientific depth with business potential and adapt messaging for products.
• Build and maintain substantiation dossiers and knowledge repositories.
• Lead governance processes for scientific evaluation and traceability of decisions.
• Support Regulatory Affairs and Legal in responding to scientific/regulatory challenges.
• Oversee tools and data capabilities for PPS, ensuring data quality and governance.
