Our team of 600 people (still growing) operates across France, Spain, Belgium, and Canada.

How we do it?

About

People joining Alan are often surprised and delighted by our innovative working method. We have a set of cultural values that guide our approach to work, such as:

  • Mission is the Boss: We have a mission-first focus with long-term thinking, where all employees act as owners seeking the company's success above all else.
  • Member & Customer-led: We are obsessively focused on solving customer problems and creating delightful experiences while building trust.
  • Excellence like Athletes: We maintain high standards and talent density, using the Keeper Test to ensure exceptional performance.
  • Enlightened Despots: We combine distributed ownership with accountability, empowering decision-makers while maintaining responsibility.
  • Radically Transparent: We make information accessible and written-first, promoting async communication while protecting sensitive data.
  • Kind, Methodic Optimists: We collaborate genuinely without ego, support teammates, and maintain positive intent while assuming the best.
  • Empathetic Challengers: We give direct feedback with empathy, praise strengths, and focus on growth through candid communication.
  • Bold & Creative Contrarians: We think differently to achieve greatness, challenge expertise with first principles, and embrace calculated risks.
  • Disciplined Executors: We focus on making good decisions quickly, maintain accountability, and break down problems into manageable pieces.
  • Fight for Simplicity: We eliminate unnecessary processes, stay concise and articulate, and maintain smart frugality while solving problems pragmatically.

People Growth (knowledge management)

Knowledge management is the structure that helps to uphold our core values of transparency and distributed ownership. Becoming the architect behind the strategy is a real chance to play a key role at Alan and help scale our beloved culture.

The role is designed with 70% of the time will be spent on knowledge management and 30% of the time on the fundamentals expected within the People team (participation in rituals and oncall). This split is expected to evolve over time towards more People Growth topics, with knowledge management gradually taking up less bandwidth. Below is an overview of the role's key missions.

Knowledge management (70%)

  • Designing a strategy for knowledge management at Alan, including harmonising and implementing best practices for Notion use (e.g., understanding the best architecture to use). The strategy should be built to align with our distributed ownership model.
  • Liaising with community leads and/or documentation referents in communities.
  • Identifying the best ways to plug our knowledge bases into AI and implementing it.
  • Driving continuous improvement efforts, focusing on process enhancements, tool optimization, and expertise development.
  • Ownership of Notion.
  • [As a second step] Improving Alan's use of other knowledge tools such as Github, Slack, and GDrive.
People Growth and Ops (30%)
  • Supporting Alaners by being part of the people_oncall rotation.
  • Participating in key People rituals.
  • [As a second step] Contributing to People Growth topics.
  • [As a second step] Taking ownership of internal communication at Alan and managing individual situations as potential evolutions.

Is it what you are looking for?

You may be a great fit if you have:

  • A strong interest in documentation / knowledge management.
  • Curiosity about HR.
  • Skills in AI, automation, and process improvement.
  • A taste for operational tasks.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Efficient project management and problem-solving skills.
Language requirements
  • Professional fluency in English (spoken and written)
Level range
  • Targeting B1-C1 on our level grid for this role.
Perks & Benefits

At Alan, we believe that being in good health is a basic need, and it starts with our employees. We provide a stimulating environment and perks to ensure happiness, efficiency, and quality time with colleagues.

  • Flexible Office: Amazing office space, co-working hubs, or full-remote with home office equipment sponsorship.
  • Tools: MacBook Pro, keyboard, monitor, Bose noise-canceling headphones.
  • Flexible vacation & hours: Organize your time freely.
  • Transport: Country-specific commuter benefits.
  • Personal growth: Dedicated coaching for all employees to maximize impact and growth.
  • Learning & Training: Flexible policies, books, and conference budgets.
  • Rewards: Generous equity packages.
  • Healthcare: Comprehensive insurance, fully covered for you and family.
  • Parental leave: Extended parental leave for new parents.

Important note: we hire people, not roles. If you're excited but don't meet every requirement, we'd love to hear from you. Everyone, regardless of background, should feel free to apply. If you identify as a woman, remember that research shows women often apply only when meeting 100% of requirements. This is just a guide, not a checklist. We look forward to your application!
